A very wonderful husband

Can i just say how much I love Mark!??! He is always so supportive of me, even when I'm crazy-busy doing more than I should, even when he doesn't want to be and I see him roll his eyes when I ask him to do something but he still does it, even when I'm still learning how to be Christ-like and not feeling kind...he loves me. After celebrating our seventh anniversary I feel even more loved and cherished and all those mooshy things more than when we first starting dating...and Mark REALLY spoiled me then. :)

Today I am grateful for.......

PATIENCE. Especially because when it seems like there isn't any left you can find some, somewhere.

Most of the time it is through friends and family and the wonderful encouragement they provide. Love you all tons.

Dad's Quick thinking...

as the four-wheeler came over the top of him and he pushed it off; sending it sailing down the mountain landing by a tree earlier today...Yes, he is okay, the four-wheeler is a little banged up, but hey it is just the red, new one... ha ha!! Seriously, he could have really been hurt, but luckily he had a helmet on and was being watched over. He also brought home a nice container of huckleberries...hmmm...those are some $$$ huckleberries!!!

Every day, as a family we are SO blessed with little moments of safety as we travel busy freeways, highways, mountainsides, etc. Be careful and safe!! We love each of you SO much!!

Last Semester

I am EXTREMELY grateful for this to be my last semester of Masters school.  I just paid for books.  Any guesses?  Well, three classes ended up being about 650 bucks.  CRAZY!

...good friends

For finally feeling like I have good friends, I don't know why but it's been really hard for me to make good friends in my adulthood. I don't feel like I'm hard to get to know or stingy or anything like that, but friendships take a lot of time and time is more valuable than money to me. Once I am a friend I am fiercely loyal.

We started our babysitting co-op today and I dropped the girls off at the Coveys so I could go and work out. I went back to pick them up around 11:15 and Christine sent me back home to shower and what not and go back and pick the girls up at 12:00. It was sooo nice!! I had a great work out, sweated a ton, got to clean up, pick up the house a little bit, and thoroughly enjoy my time with the girls before and afterwards. Then in the afternoon Jayne had a dentist appointment so we dropped Jyll off at the Welches and picked her up after a little while. She loved playing and it was wonderful not to have to find a babysitter, get Mark to come home from work, bug people to take care of things.

This is a brillant plan and knowing that these neighbors are my friends makes me grateful.

... for temples

I'm exhausted but just wanted to write that I am soooo grateful for temples today. Mark and I attended one of the Oqurrirh (sp?) Mountain Temple dedicatory sessions and thoroughly loved sitting there listening to our prophet and leaders teach us about the temple. I am renewing my efforts of attending the temple myself more regularly but also to put a picture of the temple in each of our rooms, teach my girls about going to the temple and importance of it on our lives. I want my children to know that the temple is important to me, it is the end-all goal for all the hard work that I am doing now.

I am grateful for mothers

On Friday morning I was mowing the yard at my mom's house and Garrett was sitting by her. As I mowed I watched great Grandma talking with Garrett and how he responded. He went in the house and found her cane for her. Soon he returned into the house and retrieved a garbage sack. Soon she had him pulling weeds and putting them in the sack to keep things clean. At 83 she continues to do what I've seen all the mothers around me do, that is to patiently help teach and guide us all to become better. Mothers seem to be able to sense when someone needs a little extra love, a hug, a story, a treat, or a magical kiss to make it all better. Mothers are awesome!

I'm grateful for Jyll

Today I got to spend a few hours with Jyll and Mark while Jayne was playing with Lyla across the street. Not often do we have just Jyll and it was sooo much fun. Here are just a few of the reasons why I'm grateful for Jyll -

1. Her smile - When Jyll smiles she lights up the room, literally.

2. Her eyes - Jyll has the most beautiful blue eyes, along with Mark and Jayne. How did we get so lucky that our girls have their Dad's eyes?!?!

3. Her laugh - Jyll loves to laugh. She is so quick to laugh because I honestly think she knows she'll get out of it if she starts laughing when she's in trouble.

4. Her bum - I love putting Jyll in skirts because when she's walking or running away her little bubble bum swishes the skirt so fast...it's adorable. I need to get a picture of this some time.

5. Her personality - I cannot wait to see what Jyll will do in the future. Even at a very young age I remember thinking she has this big personality in this little body. Tonight I was resting on the bed upstairs, Mark was bringing the kids up to bed, and Jyll walks by saying, Hi Momma...prayer. She picks up everything, is talking about everything, and watches everything. Is there a way to keep her innocent and wonderful as long as possible?

Saturday Items

I am very grateful for Saturday mornings today! - I went to bad late but just woke up at 9!!!! It feels great!
I am grateful for fresh air and especially air while it is raining!

I am grateful for the things I own - my bed in particular. As I was walking back to my car last night after seeing Julie and Julia, I saw a man sleeping against a building. So sad.

I'm grateful for appliances that make cleaning easier (dishwasher, washing machine). I'm looking forward to cleaning my apartment today!

I'm grateful for a few weeks off from school. I am sad to see some free time go, but welcome my last semester of school (hopefully!).

Today I am grateful for smells

1. Fresh cut grass...need I say more? I was thinking today as I was mowing how many hours of my life I might have spent mowing grass. There is such a peaceful feeling making the lines in the grass, looking at it with pride afterwards, enjoying how nice it looks. I remember mowing lawns with Dad in Texas and eating those nasty sugar-free hard candies as we'd go to the different homes not realizing we were actually working...we just loved being able to hang out with Dad.

2. Soup...Mark and Andy made Roasted Red Pepper Soup last night and I can still smell it up in my closet. It has such a homey smell, almost encouraging Fall to come.

3. Shampoo...I love giving my girls a bath in the evening and we also smell their watermelon shampoo before we wash their hair.

4. Lotion...and after baths the ritual of lotion all over their bodies, checking for any new bruises or scratches, making sure there are no rashes or problems. They are finally clean...for a few hours.

5. Body soap...I love getting in my shower and smelling Mark's body wash. I love the musky scent and knowing that he is mine, we are in this for the long haul, he loves me and I love him.

Today I am grateful for...

Today I am grateful for...

1. Mops - did you know they clean up split milk, split Fruit Loops, dried on strawberries...and a bazillion other things that probably were on my floor.

2. Back to school days - The girls and I went to the pool this afternoon and had it all to ourselves due to school starting for the other grades. It was wonderful!! They even let me read in my Oprah for a little while and then I jumped in and we splashed and played.

3. Popcorn - I love, love, love popcorn!! I remember riding with Grandpa Lovell on a few trips in the motorhome and we always had to have popcorn and pistachios (still do not like pistachios).

4. Mark - My amazing husband who puts our kids down for bed by himself. I know I don't give him enough credit but am always pleasantly surprised when he takes care of the little things so that I don't stress about big things.

5. Family - I had a blast tonight playing Dr. Mario with Manda, eating and visiting with Miss, and catching up with Andy. Two times in one week where we've been able to get together...does not happen often enough! I know it won't be like this forever so each time we do hang out I am starting to cherish it more and more.

Today, I am grateful for 6 things!

They happen to be my nieces and nephews.  Here is why:

Kaitlyn:  For having such a kind heart and loving her mom and siblings so much.  She is very timid, but once she puts her mind to it she has fun (i.e. pitching machine).  She let me take her to her first manicure and we had so much fun!  I can't wait to do it again.

Garrett:  Mr. tough guy/Mr. mush.  He likes to do well at things and doesn't like to fail.  He has a HUGE heart and loves his family.  Seeing him with Grandpa seriously melts my heart.  When I heard about his appendectomy I was really concerned, but I knew he was tough and would be fine.

Brady:  For being 'outside the norm'.  Definitely a thinker.  I remember talking with Brady, well I was talking and he was thinking about something completely different.  :)  I love his sweet prayers for dinosaurs and aliens.

Madison:  For her amazing drama queen abilities.  ;)  For being a mama's girls, because we all know I am!  For dancing and being silly with everyone.  She is definitely not shy!

Jayne:  For saying cute things like "we like aunt Di, her funny".  For being pals in NY and Seattle when visiting.

Jyll:  For playing for hours in the sand at Long Beach, WA.  For laughing, jumping, singing, dancing.  Today I heard....."I'm wiiiiiiishing..."  So presh!

A big shout out to Bec and Aun for being amazing mothers.  I love you both so much!

I am Grateful for...

·         Since I just returned from the dentist…I am grateful for the dentist!!  While having the work done today, I thought of the pioneers and what they did when a tooth problem occurred.  We are blessed to have dentists and numbing medicine (even though right now I can’t rub my lips together)!!

·         I am grateful for dad being a good “grandpa”/”papa” to take his grandsons out on the lake to fish.  They were so cute sitting in the cab of the pickup waiting for dad to finish hooking the boat up.

I am grateful for weed killer and fruit.

1. Today I am grateful for weed killer so that once I finally get all
the current weeds pulled we will not be pulling weeds again.

2. Gloves - not only do they protect you hands from pokey weeds but
also spiders and yellow jackets too. :)

3. Fruit - my favorite fruit today is white peaches...yum!

4. Along those lines I'm grateful for food processors that help make
working in the kitchen easier.

5. Good friends - we played ticket to ride with a family Mark home
teaches.

Mishes

I met with the missionaries last night. Elder Rose and Elder Kopishke. I was thoroughly impressed with their remarks, spirit, and testimony of Christ.

I met with them along with Esther, Sarah, Courtney, and my HT Joey. It was amazing to go around the room and describe all the different things we do currently. One of the elders put it something like this as he was going around the room.....architect (ships), counseling, taxes, architect (sound), dead bodies (ME assistant). So fun.

They then shared three words they would like us to commit to. Prayer, Care, Share. I'll refer to this as PCS. :) they asked us to commit to a date, 4 weeks out, when we would refer someone to be taught. Best of all, they shared a scripture that essentially said that we are committed to service and if we don't have a name that not all is lost!

Anyway, I'm excited to see these next few weeks and the experienced I'll have.

I'm gratefule for the mishes!!!

Mass Transit!

I am grateful for mass transit for the following reasons:

1. It allows me to save 16 miles a day of driving (depreciation of Malibuella slows).
2. It allows me about an hour and a half of thinking/blackberry time while riding.
3. It extends the time I have between fuel-ups.
4. It allows fewer emissions (I live in Seattle......come on).
5. It saves me 24-35 bucks PER day of parking!

Woot!!

Five things today

Hi all,

I love this idea of having a family gratitude journal that we could compile at the end of the year. Please, please, please contribute!!

Today I am grateful for strollers (do not know what people did without them), good friends to do fun things together, animal keepers (we saw snakes and turtles today and am sooo grateful other people will show them to my kids so I don't have to touch them, public restrooms that are clean and work properly, and spending time with my kids when they are happy and enjoying one another.
